Feature Highlight: Track Changes to Your Data

08/10/2017 Posted by Odalis

There are times when there may be some confusion or misunderstanding as to why something changed in your data. For example:

  • Who updated that customer’s order to “Complete” when the item they purchased is still in your warehouse?
  • What new information was added to that recently updated project?
  • When did that member sign up for an account?

For Knack users with a Pro plan or above, the record history can answer those questions.

How to Access a Record’s History

Here’s how you can access the history for any of your records.

1. Go to the Data section of the builder.<

2. Select an object and navigate to the Records tab.

3. Click on the edit “pencil” icon next to a record:

4. Click on the History tab to review the changes for that record:

This will provide a version of the record for each time it was changed, highlighting any changes from the previous record in blue.

It also notes:

  • Date Updated = the date and time the change was made
  • Source = where the change originated from
  • Action = whether the record was created or updated
  • Updated By = who made the change

Record History in the Live App

With the current record history, you can only access the information from the builder. If you want to create your own record history to display in the live app, take a look at the articles below:

Note: Record history in the live app can be added by any user on any plan.
