Sharing is Caring
One of our big goals for 2017 is to double-down on our customer communication. We want to share more about how we work, what we’re working on, and what’s coming soon.
This month’s major new feature was dropdown menus. You can now create and add pages to dropdown menus for use in your live app.
Just add a new page, select the Dropdown Menu tab, and click which pages will display in the dropdown menu.
We also added helper functions: trimLeft(), trimRight(), and trim() can now be used to remove whitespace from variables in text formula fields.
New Template Apps
Knack and inventory applications are a match made in a warehouse.
Location management, re-order triggers, multiple shipments, and more are all perfect for Knack rules, workflow, and equations.
To help show how Knack can help manage inventory, we’ve added new template apps with an inventory focus.
This is a doozy, and has everything you’d need to manage complex inventory from multiple warehouses.
A single app will allow you to give each warehouse control of its inventory, and also give you the control you need to manage all locations from one place.

This is a great example of where a single order can reduce inventory for multiple ingredients that comprise that order. This app will calculate the inventory you need to add to meet the demands of upcoming orders.

Customer story: Historic Christ Church & Museum
Patrick Heffernan has an amazing story to share about how Knack enabled him to build a comprehensive historical database about slave histories in the historic Corotoman estate in Virginia.
The rich historical documentation eventually led to a woman discovering her earliest known ancestor – a slave on the estate. That listing was as close as one might get to a birth record. “It was a moving moment both for the descendant and for me,” Patrick said. “Even if this work were to prove beneficial to nobody else, it thereby proved worth all the effort to me.”
