How to Make an Event Calendar App in Knack

Let’s dive into the Event Manager and Calendar template. So first of all, you’d go to the top right of your screen and click on Start from Sample App. You can also start from scratch if you wanted to, but we’ll start from a template. Then from there, you can go to the Event Calendar and click Create App.

In a moment, it’ll load for you and build out the entire application into your Knack account.

Streamlined Event Organization

The Events Management Calendar template is really nice. It allows you to organize events so smoothly. You can manage schedules, venues, attendees, and event staff effortlessly without other management tools.

Knack helps you stay on track by making sure your events are never overbooked and all registration payments are accounted for.

Customizing Events in the Calendar

Event calendars are perfect for displaying events and other date-driven data. Knack makes it easy to create and customize your own events using this calendar. You can very easily add a new record, and you’ll see some example events already populated to help you get started.

Simply press Add Record and input any event details you want. You can:

  • Assign it to categories
  • Change date and time
  • Set it to all-day or recurring
  • Add a description
  • Set a location
  • Assign an event editor

Embedded Front-End Display

What’s really cool is not only the back end but the front end—where you can embed this calendar into a public-facing display. For example, something like an Elementary School Flea Market. This can be shown in Month, Week, or Day view formats.

The calendar also can be color-coded, and the community can submit their own events for approval.

Community Event Submissions and Custom Views

For example, users can suggest an event with a title, date, description, and select the appropriate categories via a form. These suggested events go into your Knack back end for approval.

Users can then:

  • Search through event listings
  • Register and pay for events

Event coordinators can:

  • Add, edit, and remove events
  • Specify the capacity for each
  • Set up custom views with filters and color codes

Handling Paid Registrations and Future Use Cases

Paid registrations are awesome. You can store payment information by allowing members to save their payment details for quicker future checkouts.

You can even repurpose this calendar for:

  • Managing a social media strategy
  • Scheduling content posts
  • Tracking post performance

Knack’s flexibility helps you focus more on execution and less on planning.
