How Knack Flows Works

Seamlessly connect Documentero to Knack using Knack Flows to automate document creation and management using your live application data. This integration allows you to generate contracts, reports, invoices, certificates, letters, and other structured documents automatically using Knack record inputs. Populate document templates with real-time data, trigger document creation from form submissions or updated records, store generated files inside Knack, and maintain a centralized, searchable document hub without manual work or custom code.

Step 1: Select a Trigger

A trigger is an event in your automation that starts your Flow. You can select a trigger event in Knack that initiates document creation in Documentero. For example, you might choose “New Record Created,” “Form Submitted,” or “Record Updated” as the trigger. Knack monitors your app for the selected event and sends the relevant data to Documentero.

Step 2: Set up an Action

Once a trigger occurs, actions define what happens next in your Flow. For example, you can send structured Knack data to Documentero to generate a document from a predefined template. Actions can include creating documents, passing dynamic fields, saving document URLs back to Knack, sending notifications, or routing files to specific users. Flows can contain a single action or multiple steps with conditions and logic.

Step 3: Connect and Automate

When your Knack Flow is ready, you can activate it immediately or add additional actions as your workflow evolves. Your Knack and Documentero apps are now seamlessly connected. Automatically generate documents whenever data changes, keep files linked to the right records, and manage document-driven processes directly inside your Knack app.
